Apploi is seeking a part-time wound care nurse in Illinois to deliver direct and indirect nursing care for ostomy-related and wound conditions. You will supervise nursing staff and ensure wound care protocols are followed, while coordinating with physicians and the care team.

The role requires an active Illinois RN or LPN license, CPR certification, and strong leadership in a healthcare setting. Excellent communication and patient-centered care are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Illinois RN or LPN license.
• Current CPR certificate or obtain within two weeks.
• Knowledge of standard nursing practices and procedures.
• Interest/knowledge in geriatric care.
• English reading, writing and speaking required.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Ability to interact tactfully with patients, families and staff.
• Demonstrates leadership and supervisory abilities.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise nurses, CNAs, and other staff in wound care protocols.
• Assess and document wound status and skin care.
• Administer or assist with wound treatments as ordered by physician.
• Review treatment orders for completeness and accuracy.
• Complete weekly skin reports and share with nurse consultant.
• Educate facility staff on pressure ulcer prevention.
• Assist physicians during wound care rounds.
• Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered.
• Obtain/assist in wound specimen collection as ordered.
• Update family and attending physician on wound changes.
• Develop written care plans and evaluate delivery of care.
• Attend care plan conferences and participate in QA.
