Job summary

The University System of Maryland (USM) Office is seeking a Web Content Specialist to support the development and launch of USM’s new website. The Specialist will create new pages and migrate existing ones to WordPress, with duties in content creation, editing, and publishing, in collaboration with IT and Communications and Marketing.

This is a part-time contractual role (10-15 hours/week), through 12/31/2026, with potential renewal. Up to 4 hours/week may be in-office in Adelphi or Baltimore.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1 year experience web content.
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and brand-voice consistency.
• Familiarity with WordPress content management and accessibility best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building the new WordPress site by migrating and developing content.
• Create pages and lay out content using templates; format text, images, links, and styling.
• Write, edit, and proofread for clarity, accuracy, and consistency with brand voice.
• Collaborate with internal teams to translate content and migrate to the new site.
• Optimize content for readability, accessibility, and SEO.
• Review pages for errors, formatting issues, and broken links.
