Job summary

The University System of Maryland Office is seeking a Web Content Specialist to support the development and launch of its new website using WordPress. You will create pages, migrate existing content, edit and publish, and collaborate across IT and Communications teams to ensure accessibility and brand alignment.

This is a part-time contractual role, 10-15 hours per week, through December 31, 2026, with potential renewal.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with web content best practices, including accessibility and usability.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading with attention to detail.
• Ability to present information clearly for user-friendly pages.
• Ability to format and publish content, images, links, and documents in WordPress.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building the new WordPress site through content migration and development.
• Create pages and layout updates using templates and patterns.
• Write, edit, and proofread site content for clarity and brand voice.
• Collaborate with internal teams to translate content for the new site.
• Optimize content for readability, accessibility, and SEO.
• Review pages for errors, formatting, and broken links.
