Job summary

Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce is seeking a passionate, friendly person to join our team in a part-time capacity at a bottle shop, tasting room, and wine/cheese retailer in Eastsound.

The role runs from mid-August to early June, with shifts on weekends and some weekdays; training begins in August. You must be reliable, able to stay on your feet for long periods, and lift 40+ pounds. Some wine knowledge helps, and training is available.

Job description

We are looking for a passionate, kind, interesting human to join our team in a part-time capacity. We are a bottle shop, tasting room and wine/cheese retailer in Eastsound with a loyal following, both on and off the island. The majority of our business is offering recommendations, pouring tastes and talking about the island.

A member of our team is moving off the island for the school year so we are looking for someone to jump in from mid-August until early June. There's a good chance that this position can continue on in some form after that, there are always options. This role could be an exciting opportunity if you're looking to stay busy on the island this winter.

August: Begin training (flexible)
September: 3-4 days. Saturday and Sunday (with optional Monday and Tuesday)
October-May: 2 days. Saturday and Sunday (plus optional coverage shifts)
Shifts normally run from 11:30 until 7:30pm in the fall and 11:30-6:30pm in the winter

We need someone consistent, reliable and timely as we take our work seriously. The shop is small but can get very busy so multi-tasking is important. You'll be the only person working during your shift, moving around on your feet and must be able to lift 40+ pound boxes of wine.

Some wine knowledge would be great but we are happy to train. Most importantly, you must enjoy interacting with people and taking care of them.

This is a part-time, seasonal role with a start date in mid to late August.
