Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC. is seeking an Environmental Technician 2 to support water and wastewater operations in the Somerset, PA area. The role involves fieldwork at client sites, operations analysis, and coordination of maintenance activities.

Part-time remote work is available for those residing in or relocating to Somerset, PA, with opportunities for annual bonus based on performance. Ideal candidates will have PA Water/Wastewater Operator licensing or the ability to obtain within a year, plus

Qualifications

• Experience in water or wastewater operations or related environmental services preferred.
• PA Water/Wastewater License or ability to obtain within one year.
• Knowledge of water/wastewater processes, chemical feed systems, sampling and control.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Strong understanding of plant operations, distribution systems, and lift stations.

Responsibilities

• Travel to client sites to perform evaluations of water and wastewater facilities.
• Monitor and evaluate treatment system performance, pumps, motors, meters, gauges, and controls.
• Collect, test, and analyze samples; interpret results for compliance.
• Review and optimize treatment processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on systems and equipment.
• Inspect and repair mechanical and electrical components including pumps and valves.
• Monitor conditions, identify issues, and respond to alarms and failures.
• Maintain tanks, wet wells, booster stations, and distribution facilities.
• Record data and inspection reports using computerized and manual systems.
• Prepare clear written reports with findings and recommendations.
• Assist with startups, process adjustments, inspections, and routine operations.
• Coordinate materials, spare parts, and equipment for maintenance activities.
• Operate company vehicles safely and comply with policies.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, and state environmental standards.
• Follow health and safety procedures and use PPE.
• Collaborate with team and clients to identify operational improvements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
