Job summary

Ogden City is hiring a Water Safety Instructor for the Recreation division, located at Marshall White Center Pool. This Part-Time, flexible role focuses on delivering safe, engaging swimming lessons under supervision of the Recreation Aquatic team.

Requires WSI certification, CPR/AED, 16+, strong swimming skills, and the ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends. Pay ranges $14-$18 per hour and the position is not eligible for benefits.

Qualifications

• Current Water Safety Instructor Certification by the Red Cross.
• Current CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification.
• 16 years of age or older.
• Experience teaching swimming lessons preferred but not required.
• Strong swimming skills and understanding of water safety.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver swimming lessons for participants of varying ages and abilities.
• Assess participants to determine class placement and progression.
• Modify lesson plans to accommodate different learning styles.
• Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and constructive feedback.
• Maintain a safe environment by enforcing pool rules and safety guidelines.
• Monitor participants during lessons to prevent accidents or injuries.
• Respond quickly to emergencies, administering first aid or CPR if necessary.
• Communicate progress with parents/guardians.
• Keep accurate records of attendance and participant progress.
• Assist with setup and teardown of lesson equipment and report damaged items.
