Heartland Pet Hospital in Bellevue, Nebraska is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support patient care, triage incoming cases and perform lab work, imaging, and anesthesia assistance.

You will collaborate with a compassionate team, handle medical histories, restrain pets as needed, and participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant experience.
• Compassionate, calm, team player with strong communication.
• Proficiency in sample collection, medical histories, lab tests and radiographs is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets, triage patients, collect and analyze lab samples.

Job Description

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases. Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience required.
• Compassionate, Calm, Team Player, Multi-Tasker and Strong Communicator
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.
