Job summary

Family Veterinary Care of Ossining is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team in Ossining, NY. Duties include restraining pets, triage, collecting lab samples, imaging, nursing care, administering medications, and communicating treatment plans to clients.

Experience preferred (1 year). We offer training and development opportunities, a range of benefits, and a supportive work environment. Pay ranges from $17 to $22 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Experience in sample collection, histories, labs, radiographs or anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
• Self-starter with desire to advance knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets, triage incoming patients and assist with nursing care.
• Collect and analyze lab samples and perform diagnostic imaging.
• Assist with surgical preparation and anesthesia management.
• Communicate treatment plans effectively with clients.
• Handle routine tasks and adapt to varying case stability.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We’re looking for:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistantwith a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.

• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, andanesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
