Job summary

St. Francis Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You will assist with patient restraint, triage, lab work, imaging, anesthesia monitoring, and daily care.

We value compassion, calm demeanor, teamwork, and clear communication; prior experience preferred. Training and ongoing development are provided. Qualified candidates will be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting and work closely with veterinarians and technicians to ensure excellent

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year veterinary assistant experience preferred.
• Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker and strong communicator.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, medical histories, lab tests, radiographs and anesthesia monitoring bonus.
• Self-starter with drive to advance knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

• Restrain patients as needed and triage incoming cases.
• Collect and analyze lab samples, and assist with diagnostic imaging.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized patients under supervision.
• Assist with medications, treatment plans, and anesthesia management.
• Communicate treatment plans clearly with clients.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

We’re looking for:

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.

• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
