Job summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital is seeking a Unit Clerk for Evening shifts (Part Time, 21 hours) on the 11th Floor Medicine unit. The role provides essential links for effective communication within the nursing unit and supports patients and staff to ensure smooth operations.

The successful candidate will handle admissions, transfers, discharges, and routine clerical tasks, while maintaining patient records and coordinating with care teams.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Prepares Store Room orders according to unit schedule and manages supplies.
• Enters admissions, transfers and discharges on the 24-hour census.
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
• Acts as receptionist and facilitates communication within the nursing unit.
• Contacts physicians and health care team members by telephone.
• Keeps charts and patient records properly identified and filed.
• Assists with patient transportation and religious services coordination.
• Greets arrivals to the unit and assists patients and visitors.
