Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Registered Diagnostic Med Sonographer
• NM Diagnostic Medical Sonography
• ARDMS certification within one year of hire
• Must hold and maintain current New Mexico State Licensure (DMS-NM) under the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program. Provisional or temp license may be considered.
• Current BLS required.
• Two years of radiology ultrasound - specific college coursework preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transmit images to PACS.
• Schedule ultrasound cases with other exams.
• Educate patient before scanning and answer questions.
• Document exam data and maintain records in Radiology Information System / Hospital Information System.
• Assist physicians in procedures (biopsies, amniocentesis, renal biopsies) and maintain sterile technique.
• Maintain radiology and ultrasound policies, quality assurance and safety standards.
• Position and transfer patients safely.
• Maintain department and equipment; order and stock supplies.
• Attend staff meetings and continuing education for professional growth.
• Take call for ultrasound procedures.
• Supervise student ultrasound technologists.
