Job summary

The City of Cheyenne is seeking a Transit Dispatcher for part-time shifts to support daily operations of Cheyenne Transit. The dispatcher uses radio, telephone, and computer systems to aid bus drivers and the public, maintains records, and coordinates vehicle usage and service requests.

This safety-sensitive role requires strong communication, multitasking, and data reporting skills, with a focus on reliable public transit service delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Five years of relevant experience preferred; CDL with passenger endorsement may be required.
• Ability to obtain CDL passenger endorsement and DOT medical cert if needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform all dispatch duties and respond promptly to service requests.
• Monitor two-way radio and communications; coordinate with police, fire, and ambulance in emergencies.
• Schedule demand-response rides using computerized scheduling and dispatching software.
• Maintain driver trip logs and reports; analyze data for efficiency and service improvements.
• Provide information to the public and City staff; update transit program website as needed.
