Job summary

Williamsburg James City County Schools in Williamsburg, VA seeks an Elementary Title I Paraprofessional Math Tutor to provide part-time supplemental math instruction to identified Title I students in grades K-5.

The role reports to Title I teachers and school administrators, maintains progress records, and participates in district training to ensure fidelity to Title I methods and programs. The position is paid at $30 per hour with designated Title I school duties.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education or obtained an associate degree or higher.
• Ability to communicate through clear and grammatically proper speech and basic writing and computing skills.
• Knowledge of educational instructional practice and teaching methods.
• Safeguards all student and teacher information against unauthorized use or access.
• Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
• Ability to plan and manage assigned functions.
• Proficiency in word processing and ability to learn to use various instructional software as needed.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Exhibits a professional attitude and good communications with the public.

Responsibilities

• Follows identified instructional methods to teach small-group math lessons to identified students.
• Works under direct supervision of a Title I teacher and math specialist.
• Works part-time hours as identified by Title I Coordinator.
• Maintains lesson records, data, and progress monitoring records for Title I reporting.
• Participates in required training for delivering supplemental math instruction.
• Summarizes student needs, goals, and progress for Title I team and parents.
