Job summary

Williamsburg James City School District is seeking a part-time Title I Paraprofessional Reading Tutor to provide supplemental reading instruction for identified Title I students in grades K-5. The role works under the Title I team within designated Title I schools in Williamsburg, VA.

Responsibilities include delivering small-group literacy lessons, maintaining progress data, and participating in trainings to ensure fidelity of instruction.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education or obtained an associate degree or higher.
• Ability to communicate through clear and grammatically proper speech and basic writing and computing skills.
• Knowledge of educational instructional practice and teaching methods.
• Ability to use word processing software and learn instructional programs as needed.
• Professional attitude and ability to work with students, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach small-group literacy to Title I students in grades K-5 as designated by the Title I school.
• Maintain lesson records, entry/exit data and progress monitoring for reporting.
• Participate in required trainings for delivering supplemental reading instruction with fidelity.
• Summarize student needs, instructional goals and progress for parents and staff.
• Uphold professional conduct and collaborate with Title I teams and school leadership.
