Job summary

Viterbo University seeks a part-time Throws Coach to own the throws program, bring energy and consistency to practices, and build strong relationships with student-athletes. This role includes coaching, strength and conditioning oversight, and recruiting support within the track & field program at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Hours vary by season; attendance at games and practices is required. Pay is based on experience and time commitment.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in track & field, particularly in the throwing events, preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification and any required coaching certifications are preferred or required as applicable
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive practice plans and training schedules for the throws group.
• Provide event-specific instruction and technical development in shot put, discus, and other throwing events.
• Assist the head coach with training sessions and coaching responsibilities at practices and during competitions.
• Oversee the strength and conditioning component of training for throwers, including lifting, speed, power, mobility, and injury-prevention work.
• Develop individualized training progressions meeting athletes at their skill levels.
• Coordinate weekly and seasonal training plans with the track & field program and competition schedule.
• Attend and coach at track meets, providing technical instruction and competition prep for athletes.
• Assist with meet prep, event entries, warm-ups, logistics, and related tasks.
• Maintain athlete performance records to guide training and development.
• Assist with recruiting student-athletes to Viterbo University.
