Job summary

University of Minnesota, Duluth (UMD) is seeking a part-time Assistant Throws Coach for its Men’s and Women’s Track and Field programs. The role focuses on developing strength and technique for throws, with duties including practice attendance, coaching multiple throwing events, and possible recruitment support.

The position runs from October 5, 2026 to May 16, 2027, with a stipend of $3,060. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and collegiate-level experience, and be prepared to work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree.
• 1-3 years years' experience at the collegiate level.
• Commitment to athletic excellence in an academic environment.
• Experience as a student-athlete.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Support student athletes by promoting mental health awareness to foster positive team culture.
• Assist with establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
• Write and implement programming for the throws program including shot put, weight throw, discus, hammer throw, and javelin
• Attend practice and meets which may require availability on nights and weekends
• Occasionally help with student-athlete recruitment
