Job summary

Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital in Chicago is seeking part-time teachers to join our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for school-age children and adolescents (12-17) who benefit from therapeutic behavioral health services.

The role is 20 hours per week, with two classes daily (10am-11am and 11am-12pm), Monday through Friday. A valid Illinois teaching certificate (PEL) is required; a Special Education certification is preferred. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Valid Illinois teaching certificate (PEL) required; certification in Special Education preferred.
• One year teaching ED/BD children and/or adolescents preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to patients while maintaining an orderly and disciplined structure in the classroom.
• Develops special interventions for patients unable to function within the classroom setting.
• Assists in curriculum development.
• Completes patient lesson plans and maintains all required records.
• Maintains an adequate supply of instructional materials and ensures a safe environment.
