Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc.—Chicago area—seeks part-time teachers for our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) serving school-age children and adolescents with behavioral health needs. The role involves instructing in a structured classroom, developing interventions, and contributing to curriculum while maintaining documentation and a safe learning environment.

The position is 20 hours per week, teaching two classes daily, with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters preferred.
• One year teaching ED/BD children and/or adolescents preferred.
• Valid Illinois teaching certificate (PEL) required; certification in Special Education preferred.
• Knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population, age-appropriate growth and development, and crisis management.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction to patients while maintaining an orderly classroom.
• Develops special interventions for patients unable to function within the classroom setting.
• Assists in curriculum development and completes patient lesson plans.
• Maintains records and ensures a safe, sanitary classroom environment.
