Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a part-time Swim Lesson Instructor to lead lessons, ensure safety, and foster youth development in our aquatic programs.

Responsibilities include teaching strokes, tracking progress, and collaborating with aquatics leadership to deliver a high-quality member experience. Applicants must be 16+, hold YMCA instructor certification, and complete required ASHI/First Aid training.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and able to teach swimming safely.
• Certification requirements completed prior to first shift.
• Ability to relate to diverse groups and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead swim lessons and promote water safety per YMCA standards.
• Maintain attendance and progress records for participants.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and engage parents.
• Perform equipment checks and prepare lesson materials.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
