Job summary

The Akron Area YMCA is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to deliver safe, engaging swim lessons with a focus on water safety and skill-building for youth and adults. You will follow YMCA guidelines, prepare lesson plans, supervise participants, and motivate students in a welcoming environment.

Qualified candidates hold a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification, CPR/First Aid, and abuse prevention training. This role supports community health and youth development within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Must hold current YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required.
• Abuse prevention training within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
• Demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Instruct swimming lessons per YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
• Maintain supervision of class participants and ensure safety.
• Build positive relationships with participants, families and staff.
• Record progress, issue certificates, and complete required reports.
• Attend training sessions and assist with program setup and teardown.
