Job summary

The YMCA is hiring a Swim Instructor to teach lessons to children and adults, creating a safe, fun learning environment and following the established curriculum. You will build positive relationships with swimmers and their families while preparing and maintaining equipment and following all pool safety guidelines.

Required certifications (CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration) or the ability to obtain them through YMCA training, plus a passion for helping others learn a vital life

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Positive, energetic, and comfortable leading groups.
• Passion for working with children, families, and people of all ages.
• Dependable, patient, and encouraging.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Commitment to YMCA's mission and core values.
• Willingness to attend trainings and staff meetings.

Responsibilities

• Teach swim lessons to children and adults of all ages and skill levels.
• Create a safe, fun, and encouraging learning environment during every class.
• Instruct participants using YMCA swim lesson curriculum and teaching techniques.
• Ensure pool and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
• Build positive relationships with swimmers and their families.
• Prepare lesson equipment before class and store it properly afterward.
• Encourage participants, celebrate progress, and help swimmers achieve their goals.
• Represent the YMCA's mission and core values through every interaction.
