Job summary

You will join the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties at the Tom Taylor Family YMCA in Gig Harbor, WA as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor. This part-time role focuses on pool safety, supervision, and teaching swimming skills to youth, with duties reflecting YMCA policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years or older.
• Six months or more of related Aquatics experience (preferred).
• Current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen certifications (preferred).
• Background and reference checks required under WA State Fair Chance Act.
• Diversity and inclusion commitment.
• Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of members by monitoring water and pool deck, enforcing rules, and following YMCA procedures.
• Instruct swimming lessons in basic and advanced strokes for youth members.
• Perform rescue actions, administer first aid and CPR per YMCA guidelines, and complete required reports.
