Robbinsdale Area Schools in New Hope, MN is seeking a Part-Time Swim Coordinator to lead the Community Education Aquatics program at Plymouth and Sandburg Middle Schools.   • Recruit, interview and hire swim staff in conjunction with Program Director.
  • Promote all aquatics programs.
  • Monitor staff certifications and program equipment needs.
  • Create and maintain lesson plans, certificates, and skills reports.

POSITION AVAILABLE

Part-Time Swim Coordinator
Plymouth and Sandburg Middle Schools
$21.83 - $27.02 per hour, depending on certification and experience based on the Level 4 of the program assistant contract, benefits eligible
20 hours per week including some evenings and weekends

SUMMARY
The Community Education Aquatics team is responsible for providing safe, high-quality swim lessons to all participants. Staff are required to communicate with students and families, clearly explaining expectations, lesson objectives, and outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All staff must:

  • Maintain a safe environment for all participants and staff
  • Know and enforce all program policies and rules
  • Follow established emergency procedures
  • Respond effectively in an emergency situation
  • Maintain current required certifications
  • Inspect pool area for cleanliness, safety hazards, and unsafe conditions
  • Maintain a professional appearance while on duty
  • Arrive on time in proper uniform
  • Participate in in-service training and staff development

Swim Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Developing, planning, organizing, promoting and coordinating aquatic programs, classes, camps, clinics and other aquatic activities for youth and adults
  • Completing and maintaining Red Cross LG and LGI certifications
  • Creating swim schedules in Arux and monitoring registrations
  • Monitoring Swim email and providing customer service
  • Working with CE office staff when changes to schedules are needed
  • Filling gaps at the pool as second to the Deck Manager when needed throughout the school year and share Deck Manager hours during the summer
  • Processing timecards
  • Meeting grant deliverables and program goals as outlined by the CEE Program Director
  • Assisting Deck Manager with regular staff meetings and in-service as needed

Swim Coordinator will share the following responsibilities with the Deck Manager:

  • Recruit, interview and hire swim staff in conjunction with Program Director
  • Promote all aquatics programs
  • Monitor staff certifications and program equipment needs
  • Update and maintain swim staff handbook and emergency action plan following safety rules and regulations
  • Create and maintain lesson plans, certificates, and skills reports
  • Offer a high level of customer service to create access and opportunity for community engagement with the Aquatics Program
  • Work with Program Director to expand Aquatics offerings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to work with people from various cultures
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and problem solving skills while dealing tactfully and courteously with the public
  • Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First-Aid Certificates within two months of hire
  • LGI certification preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a standard office environment which requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes, swim equipment or heavier materials with help from others, and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. A job in this category requires frequent sitting, and computer work, some walking or standing, and may involve swimming, and entering/exiting the pool.
