Job summary

Summit Health in Berkeley Heights, NJ is seeking a Part-Time Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. This role supports sterile technique, instrument handling, and OR workflow during 3 x 10-hour shifts from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.

The ideal candidate will have OR Technician certification, High School diploma or GED, BLS, and 2–4 years of experience. You will ensure patient safety, proper labeling of meds, and collaboration with RNs and physicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required; vocational/technical diploma preferred.
• BLS certification is required.
• Graduate of an OR Technician Program is preferred.
• National certification as an OR Technician is required.
• 2-4 years experience required. 5-8 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handles and passes instruments and supplies appropriately.
• Maintains sterile field during procedures and prevents breaks.
• Assists physician with equipment during procedures.
• Maintains inventory and procures supplies for procedures.
• Performs sterilization and reports malfunctions.
• Supports safe transfer and positioning of patients.
• Ensures proper labeling of drugs/solutions and documentation.
• Collaborates with the RN and surgeon to follow the plan of care.
