Job summary

Banner Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming, is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a part-time, 20-hour weekly schedule in the operating room. The role involves scrubbing in, passing instruments, and assisting with pre- and post-operative duties to support patient care.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED with current BLS, and may require state registration where applicable. Experience in OR settings is preferred, with opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and current basic life support certification.
• Where applicable must be registered with State Regulatory Agency
• The position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations.
• Must stay abreast of new developments in the field.
• Graduation from a certified school of surgical technology or two years of operating room experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures. Pulls appropriate instruments and supplies and ensures good working order of instruments.
• Anticipates the surgeon’s needs. Passes instruments and retracts tissue.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and universal precautions; manages sharps, trash, and sponges; prepares instruments for cleaning.
• Ensures surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
• Assists with OR turnover between cases and stock replenishment; cleans operating rooms.
• May provide administrative support to the department as assigned.
• Participates in training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students.
