Job summary

Evergreen Valley College seeks a part-time Student Retention Assistant (Counseling-Early Alert) for 19 hours per week, 10 months annually, with hours Mon-Wed 9:00–2:30 and Thu 9:00–1:00. This grant-funded, classified role supports retention monitoring and student services coordination.

The position reports to the Dean of Student Services and is represented by CSEA, with responsibilities spanning advisement, data collection, and collaboration with counseling and financial aid teams.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school, or two years related experience and/or training.
• Diversity sensitivity and ability to work with a diverse student body and staff.

Responsibilities

• Attend classes to observe retention skills of students in the program.
• Monitor student academic progress and provide advisement and support.
• Review academic problems with students and faculty to identify improvement methods.
• Assist faculty and students in coordinating learning activities.
• Coordinate group activities such as study groups, workshops, and tutoring.
• Provide information to other student services and financial aid as needed.
• Coordinate with program Counselors.
• Collect and analyze data on program students and maintain retention databases.
• Research career opportunities with local employers for students.
• Coordinate admissions, counseling and financial aid to ensure effective intake.
• Identify activities to assist transfer to four-year institutions.
• Assist in workshops and program presentations for communities.
• Assist in preparing program plans and reports.
• May present program information to multicultural communities.
• Perform other duties related to the job.
