Job summary

Family Dollar in Jackson, MS is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development. You will assist with day-to-day activities, organize merchandise, and help train and supervise Store Associates to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment.

You will handle opening/closing procedures, respond to customer questions, support scheduling and payroll tasks, and ensure compliance with company policies while delivering strong service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process all corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for storefronts
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record-keeping including payroll, scheduling, and cash handling, and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal
• Other duties as assigned*
