Job summary

Luna Community College in Santa Rosa is seeking a part-time Rough Rider Mentorship Teacher Assistant to support after-school STEAHM lessons for K-12 students. You will work under Lead Teachers across science, technology, trades, art, and humanities to guide hands-on projects.

The role requires energy, safety awareness, and the ability to move between classrooms and labs. Prior experience with K-12 students and a background clearance are preferred for this casual, non-exempt position.

Qualifications

Strong academic record in at least two STEAHM-related fields.
Experience working with K-12 children is preferred.
Must pass Luna Community College’s background clearance for working with minors.

Responsibilities

Project facilitation: assist Lead Teachers with STEAHM lessons and hands-on building or experiments.
Small group leadership: guide K-12 students and enforce safety procedures.
Lab & shop safety: monitor activities and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
Experiment support: set up, tear down, and maintain materials for daily activities.
Mentorship: provide in-the-moment tutoring to bridge gaps and engage students.
Administrative: track attendance and report on project efficacy to the Program Director.
