Qualifications

• Valid MN teaching license in a special education field.
• Ability to work collaboratively and positively with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Knowledge and experience with due process procedures.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with conflict resolution.
• Training and experience in behavior management and knowledge of crisis response.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to due process guidelines using district methods to evaluate and identify special education needs; participate in eligibility decisions and evaluation plans.
• Serve as a case manager for students by developing and maintaining IEPs; facilitate IEP meetings; provide Rights and Safeguards information to parents; share progress reports.
• Work knowledge of and compliance with state and federal rules and regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality per data privacy laws and FERPA/HIPAA.
• Provide direct instruction to students and assist them in attaining IEP goals.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to plan curriculum and assessments.
• Provide job performance feedback to paraprofessionals in implementing IEP goals.
• Maintain data to monitor student progress and communicate with parents.
• Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities.
• Develop proactive behavioral interventions based on FBA results.
• Know how to maintain a safe environment (e.g., MANDT, CPI, emergency plans).
• Attend staff development and stay current with regulations governing special education.
• Collaborate with related service providers and outside agencies.
