Job summary

Centennial Middle School in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Special Educational Assistant for the Special Classroom. The role supports a certificated teacher by planning and implementing instructional and behavioral programs for students with moderate to severe disabilities.

The position is 6.5 hours per day, .8125 FTE, with a salary range of $21.29 to $29.47 per hour. Benefits include PERS, medical, dental, vision, and paid leaves. Training in NVCI is required or will be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
• Ability to implement IEP goals and classroom plans.
• Strong communication with teachers, students, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing learning experiences for students.
• Confer with teachers to provide feedback on student performance.
• Interpret and implement IEPs and related plans.
• Instruct students in small groups and one-on-one.
• Revise lesson strategies to meet IEP goals.
• Help students develop interpersonal skills and safety awareness.
• Participate in behavior management programs and train students.
• Respond to discipline appropriately and model positive behavior.
• Collaborate with staff and outside agencies on individual plans.
