Job summary

Centennial SD 28J seeks a Special Educational Assistant at Pleasant Valley Elementary School in Gresham, OR. The position is 0.75 FTE (6 hours daily 8:00am–2:30pm) with a salary of $21.29–$29.47 per hour.

Start date around Sep 25, 2026; application deadline Oct 2, 2026, or open until filled. The Educational Assistant assists certificated teachers, supports students with moderate to severe disabilities, and uses IEP-driven plans and behavior management strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience with students with special needs incl. autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and emotional disturbance.
• Ability to speak a second language preferred.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing learning experiences for students enrolled in the program.
• Confer with teacher(s) to provide feedback on student performance in tutorial and testing activities.
• Interpret IEPs and related instructional/behavioral plans within guidelines set by the certificated teacher.
• Instruct students in small group and one-on-one settings.
• Revise lesson plans or teaching strategies to achieve IEP goals and objectives.
• Help students develop positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults.
• Promote safety of the students and assist in behavior management.
• Work with classroom staff and outside agencies to implement individual plans.
