Job summary

Vista Hill Foundation is seeking a Classroom Aide for the Sam and Rose Stein Education Center in San Diego. The role supports teachers by implementing instructional and behavior programs for students aged 5–22 with developmental disabilities.

Work Mon–Fri, 8:00am–1:30pm (27.5 hours/week). Starting pay is $17.90/hour with potential higher offers for related experience, and opportunities exist to advance within a caring, community-focused organization.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
• Must be able to work with a culturally diverse population.
• Must pass criminal background check, TB and drug test requirements.
• Job is very physical in nature – lift up to 40 lbs unassisted.
• Driver's license with 2 years clean record is a big help.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized behavior modification programs including Behavior Support plans or Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Record daily data for all students.
• Implement individual or group instructional programs.
• Supervise students during community outings, at vocational sites, and on field trips.
• Keep students engaged in safe activities during non-task times, including recess.
• Assist students in personal hygiene tasks.
• Assist other classroom staff in a cooperative manner.
