Job summary

Vista Hill Foundation in San Diego operates the Stein Education Center, serving developmentally disabled students aged 5–22. The Speech Language Pathologist works under supervision to evaluate, plan and deliver speech services and contribute to I.E.P. team goals.

The role requires a Master’s in Speech Language Pathology, California licensure and CCC-SLP, with 1+ year of relevant experience preferred. Full-time, Mon–Fri, with $43/hour starting pay and comprehensive benefits for eligible staff.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology is required.
  • California state license from SLPA Board is required.
  • CCC-SLP certification from ASHA is required.
  • Previous clinical experience with developmentally disabled population preferred.
  • Ability to pass drug, TB tests and background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates students to determine suitability for speech services as requested by supervisor.

Description

PROGRAM

The Stein Education Center serves Developmentally Disabled students ages 5 to 22 who are unable to attend public schools. The work environment is challenging but rewarding. We are a caring organization with room for advancement.

THE POSITION

The Speech Language Pathologist works under the supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist Coordinator. An example of tasks include:

  • Evaluates students to determine suitability for speech services when requested by supervisor.
  • Consults with classroom teachers, other support services, family services and parents, as requested.
  • Serves as a member of the Individual Educational Plan (I.E.P.) team.
  • Attends Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) review meetings.
  • Provides speech services to students in accordance with Individualized Education Plans (I.E.P.'s).
  • Ensures that students' behavioral programs are appropriately implemented during speech therapy sessions.
  • Develops and maintains visual supports and AAC for students across their daily needs.
  • Completes treatment notes for assigned students on a daily basis.
  • Completes I.E.P. updates as required by school districts within one month of due date.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in a timely and cooperative manner.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • California state license from SLPA Board
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
  • Previous clinical experience of a minimum of one (1) year with developmentally disabled population preferred.
  • Able to pass drug test, TB test, background check.

HOURS

Full Time - Monday thru Friday

PAY

$43.00 per hour & up

This is a starting rate and may be adjusted upwards based on education & experience.
