Job summary

The New Museum is seeking a Senior Visitor Experience Associate to join the Visitor Experience team in New York. This part-time role offers 22–24 hours per week at $24.57 per hour, with non-exempt status and union membership.

You will help manage the lobby, the New Museum Store, and front desk operations, ensuring welcoming, accurate service and adherence to museum policies. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, processing admissions and tickets, handling sales and memberships, and

Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience interacting with the public in a museum, gallery, retail, hospitality or cultural institution is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize, follow through and complete assigned tasks is essential; previous supervisory experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with cash handling, computers and technology is important and occasional lifting of 25 pounds may be required.

Responsibilities

• Leads by example by proactively greeting and engaging visitors, providing outstanding professional, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and friendly service to museum visitors.
• Oversees the implementation of museum policies with Visitor Experience Associates and ensures professional customer service across the front desk, lobby, and store.
• Leads daily opening and closing procedures including cash handling and reporting; ensures lobby areas, store, and galleries are stocked, clean, and prepared for opening.
