Job summary

Extendicare Ridgeview in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide (Casual) to support planning and delivering meaningful programs for residents, under the supervision of the Recreation Manager and Executive Director. You will help maintain records, assist with outings, and support meal service as required.

The ideal candidate has a college diploma in Recreation or Gerontology, experience with seniors, strong communication skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Valid driverf license to transport residents.
• Must provide Vulnerable Sector Check / background check.
• Smart Serve and Food Handlers Certificates.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and implementing resident programs with the Recreation Manager.
• Maintain department records and assessments including participation details.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, volunteers and other staff.
• Attend in-service education to stay current with elder care trends.
• Participate in team meetings to plan programs around residents' interests.
• Facilitate residents in scheduled and pre-arranged outings.
• Assist with assessment of resident activity levels and with meals as needed.
