Job summary

Junior Achievement of Chicago is seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist for a part-time, hybrid role in Chicago. This position focuses on high-level HR work with a flexible schedule (20–25 hours per week) under the VP Finance and Administration.

Responsibilities include advising leaders on employee relations, updating HR policies, managing ADP-based HR administration, guiding performance management, ensuring compliance with federal and local requirements, and supporting onboarding,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of progressively responsible HR experience preferred, advising managers and handling employee-relations matters.
• Experience with ADP or similar HRIS and payroll platforms preferred; SHRM/PHR certification a plus.
• Knowledge of federal, Illinois and Chicago employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Advise VP Finance and Administration and managers on employee relations, policy interpretation, performance concerns, leaves, accommodations, and corrective action; coordinate with outside counsel when needed.
• Review and update HR policies, procedures, templates, forms, and employee communications.
• Oversee HR administration in ADP or equivalent, including payroll inputs, benefits transactions, and records.
• Guide performance management, including goal setting, reviews, coaching, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with federal, Illinois, and Chicago requirements; maintain records and training.
• Support onboarding/offboarding and build relationships with former employees and the talent network.
