Job summary

The Salt Lake City School District seeks a School Support Assistant to assist with daily school operations and classroom clerical tasks at Sky View Academy, located within the Utah State Correctional Facility. The role may include substitute teaching during emergencies to maintain instructional continuity.

Required are fingerprinting/background checks, a high school diploma or equivalent, and CPR/First Aid within six months. The position is 0.7375 FTE with a starting wage of $17.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Fingerprinting and background check required for employment.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
• Ability to perform basic math including fractions, percentages and ratios.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate activities, classroom management and time management.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom work under teacher direction to support lesson plans.
• Administers tests and evaluations and monitors student progress.
• Implements learning and behavior plans to meet IEP goals.
• Confers with teachers on progress and provides targeted interventions.
• Leads small groups and communicates clearly to students.
• Monitors students in multiple settings to ensure safety and order.
