Job summary

The Salt Lake City School District is seeking a Paraprofessional I to assist assigned teaching personnel in supervising and instructing students and performing classroom clerical tasks in support of the instructional process.

Starting wage is $18.50 hourly with a part-time FTE of 0.7375 (up to 29.5 hours per week). This position is non-contract and non-exempt; fingerprinting and a background check are required.

Qualifications

• All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Per ESSA, candidates must be Highly Qualified: two years of college (minimum 48 semester hours) or an associate degree or a Paraprofessional Assessment score of 460+.
• Effective communication with children and adults, including speaking, reading, writing in English; proficient with grammar and punctuation.
• Ability to perform basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios) and operate standard office equipment; familiarity with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom work under teacher direction; support and reinforce lesson plans while following safety practices.
• Administer tests/proctor tests under supervision and monitor student progress.
• Confer with teachers to evaluate student progress and implement objectives.
• Monitor students in various settings to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Prepare teaching materials, perform record-keeping, and organize reports to support lesson plans and document progress.
