Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a School Staff Nurse to provide health services to students across the district. This PRN daily float position offers varying hours and onsite work within assigned schools.

The role requires a BSN, RN license, and BLS certification, with 1–2 years of healthcare experience preferred. Responsibilities include routine and emergency first aid, record-keeping, and collaboration with families, school staff, and management.

Qualifications

• BSN required or must be obtained within 5 years of date of hire.
• RN licensure and BLS certification required.
• 1–2 years of relevant healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience in pediatric/school health setting preferred.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide school health services as directed by department and contracts.
• Provide clinical care including routine, special needs, and emergency first aid.
• Maintain student health records and documents services rendered.
• Participate in the educational efforts of the department and the hospital.
• Communicate with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
• Demonstrate care for physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of students served.
• Demonstrate knowledge and comply with policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Other duties as required.
