Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital partners with Warren City Schools to recruit a School Staff Nurse providing comprehensive health services to students. The nurse delivers routine and emergency care, maintains health records, and supports educational health programs.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN (or will obtain within 5 years), RN licensure with BLS, and 1–2 years of healthcare experience, preferably in pediatrics or a school setting. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BSN required or must be obtained within 5 years of hire.
• RN licensure and BLS certification required.
• 1–2 years of healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience in a school setting preferred.
• Experience in pediatric nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides school health services as directed by department and contracts.
• Provides clinical care within the department, including routine, special needs, and emergency first aid.
• Maintains appropriate student health records and documents services rendered.
• Participates in the educational efforts of the department and the hospital.
• Communicates effectively with management, parents/guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care for physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients served.
• Demonstrates knowledge and compliance with departmental/school/state and federal policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Other duties as required.
