Job summary

PORTAGE TOWNSHIP SCHOOLS is seeking a part-time School Food Service worker for a 5.5-hour shift (7:30am–1:00pm) during the school year. The role involves food preparation, inventory control, and positive interaction with students and staff.

The candidate must be able to maintain sanitation, follow safety procedures, and complete required food safety certifications. Experience with a POS system and ability to work in a busy environment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have basic math skills.
• Be honest and trustworthy.

• Knowledge of School Food Service policies and program requirements.
• Must take and pass an accredited Food Handler's Certification Course per Indiana Health Code.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, production, planning, ordering, inventory and record keeping.
• Interact with students and school staff in a positive, constructive manner.
• Maintain sanitation and safe handling of chemicals at all times.
• Attend job-related trainings and workshops.
• Operate POS system and handle lunch/ala carte transactions as assigned.
