Job summary

Portage Township Schools is seeking a Substitute Food Service Assistant/Cashier to cover various food service shifts at Portage, Indiana campuses. This role involves assisting with food preparation, service, and inventory, while ensuring sanitation standards and safe operation of the POS system when assigned as cashier.

The position is contact-based with students and staff, requires ability to stand, lift up to 60 pounds, and willingness to participate in training, with shifts arranged as needed

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, production, planning, ordering, inventory, and record keeping.
• Interact positively with students, staff, and parents.
• Maintain sanitation standards and safety.
• Attend training classes and follow safety procedures.
• Use POS system for lunch and ala carte sales; produce daily/monthly reports as required.
• Possibly work in cashier role and generate required reports.
• Contribute to school food service promotions with a positive attitude.
• Assist in kitchen cleanup and other duties as assigned.
