Job summary

Benvenue Elementary in Rocky Mount, North Carolina is seeking a Custodian I (Part-Time) to maintain clean and safe school facilities. The role involves routine cleaning tasks according to established schedules, reporting damages, and supporting the Maintenance Department as needed.

Starting date is immediate. This on-site, part-time position requires basic knowledge of cleaning methods and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with prior experience in school settings preferred.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
• Some skill in the use of small equipment used in routine cleaning.
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral or written directions.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes and polishes floors in rooms, hallways and closets.
• Dusts and arranges furniture.
• Washes windows, woodwork, walls and other surfaces.
• Scrubs and cleans rest room fixtures.
• Replenishes tissue, towels, and soap in rest rooms, kitchens and classroom facilities.
• Empties wastebaskets and other trash receptacles.
• Locks and unlocks doors.
• Sorts and stores material for recycling program.
• Change light bulbs in classrooms and hallways
• Reports to supervisor any damages or needed repairs.
• Picks up paper and other trash in school building or on school grounds.
• Assists the Maintenance Department with filter changing in mechanical equipment.
• Trim hedges, pick up debris and any other grounds related duties assigned by the supervisor.
