Job summary

YMCA of Delaware is seeking a dedicated School Age Site Administrator at the Sussex Family YMCA in Rehoboth Beach, DE. The role focuses on managing the Before/After Care program on-site 50% of operating hours, supervising staff and children to ensure safe, engaging activities and open communication with families.

The position requires meeting state licensing standards, completing background checks, and promoting healthy development through structured, inclusive programming.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 20 years old and meet one of the education/experience options listed in the job posting.
• Option 1: high school diploma or equivalent, 12 college/university credits in recreation/elementary education or school-age care, 6 months experience with children K-6.
• Option 2: high school diploma or equivalent, 6 college/university credits in recreation/education/school-age care, and school-age bundle from Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood, 6 months experience.
• Option 3: high school diploma or equivalent, school-age bundle from Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood, 12 months experience.
• Complete a physical and TB screening, plus required background checks.
• Proficient active listening, patience, and strong interpersonal/communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the site and children, ensuring safe, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Provide daily care for children including feeding and supporting social-emotional needs.
• Engage children in diverse activities across literacy, health, STEM, and physical education.
• Plan and participate in daily classroom activities to ensure learning opportunities.
• Observe and document children's progress and communicate with parents and staff.
• Maintain clean, hazard-free facilities and complete required program documentation.
• Attend family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and professional development.
