Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intermediate/Stepdown unit.

This part-time role entails 24 hours per week with day or night shifts, in a facility known for compassionate care and advanced technology. The RN will transition patients from critical care to Med/Surg, perform hand-offs, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/NIHSS/PCCN or similar stepdown certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
