Qualifications

Job Details

The Pharmacy Technician obtains new patient's clinical and prescription plan coverage information, reviews new prescriptions, and/or prescription processing. This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements.

Pharmacy Hours of Operation:

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Closed Weekends & Holidays

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for creating a patient profile in the pharmacy information system.
  • Enters necessary prescription plan information in the patient profile for processing and adjudicating patient's prescriptions.
  • Responsible for entering all new patient prescription information into the pharmacy information system.
  • Addresses insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues as appropriate by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists.
  • Participates in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
  • Retrieves and prepares medication for pharmacist review and verification.
  • Prepares inventory reports for pharmacist review to purchase.
  • Submits, receives, and places inventory in stock.
  • Answers inbound telephone calls and triages calls as appropriate based on the nature of the call to the appropriate staff.
  • Assists with reviews and handling of all adjudicated prescription claims to ensure appropriateness of reimbursement, co-pay, and related financials; follows up on claims deemed inappropriate as directed.
  • Provides required information for therapeutic consults with patients to Pharmacists.
  • Intervenes with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve plan and patient-specific adjudication issues.
Education:

Typically requires a minimum of two (2) years of directly related and progressively responsible ambulatory pharmacy experience; bachelor's degree preferred. Pharmacy technician certification from a national technical certification organization, such as Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or comparable, is required. State pharmacy certification is acceptable if core competencies meet or exceed national standards.
