Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Ankeny, IA is seeking a part-time Retail Associate. The role offers $18 per hour with a 25-hour weekly schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities include serving customers and donors, processing transactions, pricing and stocking donated merchandise, and maintaining a clean, organized store environment. Flexibility and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak, write, and understand English.
• Basic computer skills including POS system and payroll program.
• Ability to accurately handle cash and give change.
• Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions.
• Ability to use basic math skills.
• Ability to work in multiple areas of the store.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly customer service on the sales floor, donation area, and during all store activities.
• Operate the Point of Sale system accurately and manage cash drawer.
• Assist donors with donations and provide receipts per policy.
• Sort, price, and prepare donated merchandise per production goals.
• Stock, clean, and organize sales floor and storage areas for a safe environment.
• Assist with receiving and moving donations and merchandise as assigned.
• Complete bank runs and other duties per Salvation Army policy.
• Follow all Salvation Army policies regarding merchandise handling and conduct.
