Job summary

Dollar Tree is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in New Jersey to support daily store functions, customer service, and team development. You will assist with merchandising, staffing, and loss prevention while ensuring a clean, safe shopping environment.

Strong communication and physical stamina are needed to manage opening/closing duties and daily operations. The role emphasizes teamwork, performance coaching, and upholding company policies in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Retail/store management experience is helpful
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a high-energy team environment
• Customer service oriented with attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers with questions and concerns in a positive manner
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process directives and maintain store displays and fixtures
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, and keeping records (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits)
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom
• Protect store assets including cash
• Ensure policy compliance and safety guidelines
• Support Store Manager in supervising and developing Store Associates
• Foster a safe, respectful environment for customers and staff
• Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms and store areas
• Carry out other duties as assigned*
