Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved School of Respiratory Care.
• Less than 1 year related experience.
• Ability to provide respiratory therapy methodologies and techniques.
• Ability to operate and trouble-shoot diagnostic equipment.
• RRT – National Board for Respiratory Care within 1 year and ACLS within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Administers physician prescribed respiratory therapy, including oxygen, medications, PFTs, ABGs, and ventilation.
• Performs evaluation procedures to determine respiratory care needs and makes recommendations.
• Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation and supports weaning and airway care.
• Collects sputum, blood and breath specimens for diagnosis and measures lung capacity.
• Communicates with health care team to ensure continuity of care and coordinate services.
• Ensures PFT/ABG lab operations run smoothly and follows supervisor directions.
