Job summary

Center for Primary Care is seeking a Part-time Referral Specialist to represent CPC, coordinate care, and obtain necessary prior authorizations. The role emphasizes patient communication, confidentiality, and efficient scheduling within a well-established CSRA clinic.

The position requires a high school diploma, 2+ years in a medical office, and 1 year in referral work, plus solid computer skills and a patient-centric approach. Flexible hours and market-competitive compensation are offered.

Qualifications

• Education: High School graduate or GED required.
• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of medical office experience, plus one (1) year of referral experience in a medical office environment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic to intermediate computer knowledge.
• Ability to type.
• Demonstrate positive customer service skills.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment, multi-tasking.

Responsibilities

• Represent CPC as an exemplary clinic in the CSRA under general supervision.
• Coordinate any additional care the patient may need inside and outside of our facility.
• Obtain prior authorization needed for testing or services.
• Obtain referrals through internet, phone, or fax.
• Fax referrals or orders to specialists and/or hospitals.
• Call insurance companies for preauthorization of outpatient procedures.
• Schedule appointments and notify patients of times.
• Attend insurance meetings and update physicians and staff with changes.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Communicate effectively by telephone and with patients at their level of understanding.
• Promote positive public relations to patients, visitors, families, physicians, and others.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
